Simon Jordan urges Martin O’Neil and Celtic to fight back after Glasgow derby defeat Simon Jordan has urged Martin O’Neill to respond with more fight after the Celtic manager cast doubts over his future at the club following a poor run of results. The Scottish champions have had a miserable week. They’ve lost three games in seven days, with two of those coming against Glasgow rivals Rangers. Celtic first lost 3-0 to Rangers at Ibrox Stadium in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final before suffering a 1-0 defeat at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership. The latter ended their perfect start to the league campaign. In between the back-to-back defeats to Rangers, Celtic were also beaten by Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the Europa League curtain-raiser. O’Neill’s side have now lost four matches in all competitions this season, matching the number of defeats they suffered across 35 games last term. The 74-year-old signed a one-year contract in June after leading Celtic to a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double following his return to the club as caretaker manager in January. However, after the latest defeat to Rangers, O’Neill admitted he would take time to consider whether he’s still the right person to lead the team. “I genuinely will reflect and see,” he said. “It’s a matter of whether I can help the team. If that’s the case – the manager’s supposed to be able to do that. I will have a look at that there this week.” O’Neill’s response surprised Jordan, who believes the Celtic boss should have shown more fight. The former Crystal Palace chairman said he would have preferred O’Neill to make it clear that the defeats to Rangers would not be repeated. “I’ve liked to see him being a bit spikier and a bit more robust, rather than sounding relatively defeated in that clip,” Jordan said on talkSPORT . “I certainly would have been wanting to say back to them, ‘This has happened, it will not happen again. “The fact that he’s talking about whether he can help the team and whether it’s his time – I find that slightly strange of Martin, but he’s having a reflective moment.”
