Barcelona president Joan Laporta to travel to Copenhagen for EFC General Assembly According to Mundo Deportivo , FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta will travel to Copenhagen on 29 and 30 September to attend the General Assembly of the European Football Clubs (EFC), the organisation formerly known as the ECA. It represents a major step forward after the Blaugrana repaired their relationship with the European Club Association, which was broken due to the Super League project. Barcelona back in the EFC Barcelona rejoined the EFC on 13 February 2026 , returning to the group that represents around 850 clubs from 55 countries after an absence of almost five years linked to the club’s involvement in the European Super League project. After withdrawing from the Super League project before Real Madrid, Laporta attended the ECA gathering in Rome last October, where he was warmly received by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the PSG president and EFC chairman. The return was formally approved unanimously by the EFC board in February. Aside from the period between 2021 and 2025, Barcelona have historically played an important role within the organisation. The club was one of the 16 founding members of the ECA in 2008, when it replaced the former G-14. Laporta became the ECA’s first vice-president, while his successors at Barcelona, Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, maintained the club’s influence on the executive committee. The Copenhagen assembly is also expected to be attended by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin. UEFA recently awarded the 2029 Champions League final to Spotify Camp Nou, making the meeting particularly relevant for Barça. The Barcelona president will travel to Laren alongside vice-president Rafa Yuste for the funeral of Bartina, the wife of former Barcelona manager and club legend Ronald Koeman, who died on 16 September. Several prominent figures from Barcelona’s history are also expected to attend, including Pep Guardiola, Jose Mari Bakero, Txiki Begiristain and journalist Lluis Canut, a close friend of Koeman. The gathering will see members of the Barcelona family come together to support Koeman and his family.
