It has been mentioned that the Blues would have to compete with Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to land the English defender next year. Mitchell’s Impressive Campaign In The Premier League So Far Mitchell has made a solid start to this Premier League campaign after putting in a run of impressive displays on the left side of Crystal Palace’s backline. The 27-year-old scored two goals in six matches for the Eagles this season in all competitions. The English talent is currently among the most talented left-backs in the Premier League. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are among the clubs hoping to land him next year. His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Chelsea to land him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer. Mitchell is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. The English talent can chip in by scoring the odd goal for his team. Mitchell is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take any time to adjust to life at Chelsea if they can find a way to get him on board in 2027. Mitchell would enhance the quality of Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at Stamford Bridge over the next few years. At 27, Mitchell is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the West London club to pursue this winter or at the end of this season. All in all, Alonso would be wise to go for a player with his skill set next year.
