France’s William Saliba misses training on consecutive days
France’s William Saliba misses training on consecutive days France travelled to Boston on Wednesday. Didier Deschamps’ side have had two training sessions: one on Thursday and one on Friday. William Saliba (25) has participated in neither. Saliba goes into this FIFA World Cup with an injury concern. The Arsenal defender is currently managing back pain. Prior to flying to the US, there had been fears that the Arsenal defender’s FIFA World Cup dreams could be curtailed by the issue. However, the severity of the problem has been downplayed by Didier Deschamps and France’s medical staff. It is still an issue that needs managing, however, and there is a prospect of Saliba undergoing surgery on the problem post-tournament. L’Équipe reported yesterday that Saliba had missed Thursday’s session, along with Adrien Rabiot. The pair did laps of the pitch. There are three absentees on Friday, the publication now adds. Saliba, who is following a personalised regime, was absent, this time alongside Théo Hernandez and Aurélien Tchouaméni. The latter two’s absences are precautionary. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
