‘I feel as though the hunger is still there’ – Luís Campos on PSG’s quest for a third Champions League title Paris Saint-Germain have endured a difficult start to the season. Whilst they swept aside Slovan Bratislava in their UEFA Champions League opener (6-1), they failed to win any of their first three games in Ligue 1, before labouring to victories over Stade Brestois and Olympique de Marseille. Heading into the international break, PSG are sixth in Ligue 1. Much has been made of PSG’s “hunger”, and Marquinhos has openly stated that the ambition has to remain intact if they are to replicate the success of recent seasons. PSG have won back-to-back Champions League titles. The “Back-to-back” represents the greatest period in the French club’s history, and, speaking on the Portugal Football Summit Podcast (transcribed by L’Équipe ), the club’s sporting director, Luís Campos, said that there is an ambition to make it a “Threepeat” this season. “I hope, and I feel as though the hunger is still there,” said PSG’s sporting director. “The desire to work together and privilege the collective is still present at the club.” Winning a sixth consecutive Ligue 1 title is a minimum requirement this season, but as always, the real focus remains fixed on a UCL title.
