Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva former PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye latest to invest at Ligue 1 side Le Mans Former Liverpool midfielder and former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye have bridged the Merseyside divide to jointly invest in Ligue 1 club Le Mans FC, it was confirmed on Wednesday. Following the arrival of new owners OutField, Le Mans have gone from strength to strength. When they showed their initial interest, the club were in the third tier, but after back-to-back promotions, the club have secured a return to Ligue 1. Their return has shown signs of promise. Patrick Videira’s side are currently ninth with a record of one win, three draws, and one loss. There are plenty of famous faces from the sporting world already involved in the project, including Novak Djokovic, Thibaut Courtois, Felipe Massa, and Kevin Magnussen. Le Mans have now added new investors in the form of Leiva (former Liverpool and Lazio) and Gueye (former Everton, Paris Saint-Germain, and Aston Villa). The club’s statement says that the addition of the pair is “part of a clear ambition: to be surrounded by personalities who are capable of using their experience and their network to the service of the club’s developpment.” Le Mans added: “For OutField, the opening of capital isn’t about actively finding investors.
