Liverpool agree genius deal to sign next Roberto Firmino The Reds have agreed to sign a player who can follow in the footsteps of their former Brazilian. Roberto Firmino remains one of the most underappreciated club icons of recent memory. The Brazilian never seemed interested in chasing the spotlight or soaking up the acclaim of the Anfield crowd. Instead, he was the perfect cog in Jurgen Klopp’s machine, quietly keeping everything ticking while providing the energy and intelligence that allowed Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to flourish. Florian Wirtz was supposed to be that player but he is struggling to be the connector and he's struggling to influence games. It means Liverpool's attack has not really flourished. Behind Wirtz, Lewis Koumas has made a positive impression and Dominik Szoboszlai has also previously done well in the role. Firmino may have been a false nine, but in this system you could imagine he would thrive in the no.10 role, linking up with Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola. Hugo Ekitike could also play the position when he is back from injury but there is another Frenchman who has shown he has traits of Firmino. Liverpool's new Roberto Firmino is Djylian N'Guessan The Reds agreed a genius transfer for N'Guessan in the summer window. The Frenchman doesn't officially join Liverpool until January. In the mean time he is currently out on loan at Brest from Saint Etienne, where he has slowly been earning minutes off the bench for the first-team. It's fair to say, N'Guessan has used his minutes well. On his debut, he was lively and almost scored an overhead kick goal in the final minutes against Paris Saint Germain. In his second game against Auxerre, N'Guessan was given a little bit more time on the pitch and he was very lively once again. In 12 minutes on the pitch, he won three out of six duels and won two tackles and made two recoveries. It's the tackles and the recoveries that caught the eye. The way N'Guessan pressed was very Firmino like. He was able to provide a lot of energy, and also link-up well with his teammates - very Firmino esque again.
