Hansi Flick calls up four reserve-team players for Barcelona training today
Hansi Flick calls up four reserve-team players for Barcelona training today FC Barcelona continued to train this morning even as a large part of the squad is away on international duty. On Wednesday, manager Hansi Flick decided to hold a joint training session between the first-team and Barça Atletic players . But, SPORT reports that unlike yesterday, today’s session was a more intimate one, with only a few players from the reserve team getting called up. Indeed, Flick worked with just four Barça Atlètic representatives: Shane Kluivert, Eder Aller, Hafiz Gariba and Guillem Victor. Kluivert the protagnonist Kluivert was one of the main protagonists of the session, receiving the traditional birthday bumps from his teammates as he turned 19. The Catalans announced last April that Kluivert had signed a contract extension until 30 June 2028, underlining the club’s belief in his long-term potential. Flick called him up for the start of pre-season this summer, where he also managed to get some minutes. However, he has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter for the reserve side at the beginning of this season, with competition from players such as Alex Gonzalez and Jesse Bisiwu. The 19-year-old has played 98 minutes across two matches for Juliano Belletti’s team so far in 2026/27. Barcelona rate Kluivert very highly. The first-team players involved in this morning’s session were Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Gabriel Jesus and Brian Farinas. The Catalans will continue training during the international break, with a special session scheduled for tomorrow in which the players will focus exclusively on gym work. Following that, it is expected that the manager will grant the players an extended break before resuming training on 5 October. Barcelona’s next fixture will come on 10 October, when they face Getafe at the Spotify Camp Nou. A few days later, they will travel to Turkey to take on Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.
