Can Marink Reedijk bring his magic touch to Hibs? Hibernian have announced that Marink Reedijk will be their next manager. Hibs announced the appointment of the former Beveren man this afternoon, with Reedijk having signed a deal with Hibs, although the club did not reveal how long the contract was for. Reedijk takes over a Hibs side that sit down in 10th, having won just two of their opening seen games to start the season. Reedijk becomes the latest manager to leave Belgium for Scotland, joining Wouter Vrancken who is also now resident in Edinburgh with Hearts. Many Hibs fans will be wondering what Reedijk can bring to their side. Well, if he can replicate the success he had with Beveren last season, they are in for a very good season. Reedijk oversaw Beveren’s promotion back to the top flight of the Belgian Pro League, and they did it in style. Under Reedijk Beveren did not lose a single one of their 32 games, with 28 wins and four draws. They scored 74 goals, far more than the leagues joint second top scorers Kortrijk and Lommel with 59. They only conceded 23 goals as well in what was one of the most dominate seasons by any side in the history of the second tier. Clearly, Reedijk will not have the luxury of being one of the stronger sides in the Scottish league. However, he clearly knows how to get a side organised and how to get a side scoring goals. After a slow start at city rivals Hearts, Vrancken has begun to turn things around. Hibs fans will hope that Reedijk can settle during the international break before hitting the ground running against Dundee. Having decided to walk away from Beveren despite their fantastic season, Reedijk will certainly feel joining a side the calibre of Hibs is a reward for that decision.
