Barcelona’s remarkable rise leaves Real Madrid trailing in all-time La Liga goals Barcelona have opened up a significant statistical advantage over Real Madrid in La Liga, with the latest numbers showing just how dramatically the balance has shifted between the two clubs over the past decade. According to Mundo Deportivo , after 96 seasons of La Liga, Barcelona have now scored 6,705 goals, compared with 6,656 for Real Madrid, giving them a 49-goal advantage after trailing their biggest rivals by eight goals as recently as the 2019/20 season. The change has been driven by a remarkable run of scoring across the last 11 campaigns. Barcelona have overturned Madrid’s goalscoring lead Barcelona’s acceleration began during the 2016/17 season, when they scored 116 league goals. From there, the Catalan club built back the ground they had lost to Madrid. Across the first five seasons of that period, through 2020/21, Barça scored 75 more league goals than Real Madrid.  Los Blancos then recovered some of that advantage between 2021/22 and 2023/24, outscoring Barcelona by 25 goals across those three campaigns. Barcelona extended their advantage by 24 goals in 2024/25, scoring 102 compared with Madrid’s 78. They added another 18-goal advantage in 2025/26, when Barça scored 95 to Madrid’s 77. The current campaign has continued the same pattern. Barcelona have scored 31 goals so far, while Real Madrid have managed 18. Across the last 11 seasons, that leaves Barça with 921 league goals compared with 815 for Madrid, a difference of 106. League title numbers tell a similar story Barcelona’s advantage is not restricted to goals, as their record in La Liga since the beginning of the 21st century also puts them ahead of Real Madrid. Valencia and Atletico Madrid have won two apiece during that period, while Deportivo La Coruña accounts for the remaining title. The more recent numbers remain close, but Barcelona still hold the edge. Since the start of the 2016/17 campaign, Barça have collected five La Liga titles, Madrid four and Atletico one. Flick’s side have combined their strong league position with another prolific scoring run , extending a trend that has developed over several seasons. The historical numbers do not settle every debate between the two Spanish giants, but they do show a clear statistical shift: Barcelona have moved from trailing Madrid in all-time La Liga goals to holding a 49-goal advantage, while also leading the title count since the turn of the century.
