Man City youngster Samuel hopes to progress at Exeter

The 20-year-old wing-back joined the Grecians on a season-long loan last month and has made eight appearances in all competitions. He played seven times while on loan at Bromley last season when they won the League Two title. "I think it was right for me to take the next step into professional men's football to gain that level of understanding on how the real game is," he told BBC Radio Devon. "Under 21s football sometimes it can be a bit false at times and I think I experienced that sometimes last season, and this season. "I'm always still learning on trying to improve on my on my game and being a better person off the pitch as well." Taylor frustrated by Exeter's international absences Samuel has been part of a much-changed Exeter squad still trying to find their feet following relegation from League One last season. He has started three and come on as a substitute in three more of City's seven League Two games this season as the club looks to improve on a record of one win, three draws and four defeats. "Obviously we strive to be much better than we have been, but I'm sure with new beliefs and different structures that we can hopefully find something that clicks and then hopefully we can stick with that," he added. "I think defensively we have been been strong at times, maybe attacking-wise we could have been better in certain situations to maybe finish off our chances. "I think there is definitely positives to take from certain games, especially Barnet and Walsall, and obviously other games that we've played as well. "But there's some chances that if we take them we could win these games, and especially in this league as well, you might only get one or two chances a game to put away, and if you don't make that count then obviously it could backfire.
