Barcelona midfielder unaware of Bayern Munich’s interest amid January transfer talks – report Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has emerged as a potential January target for Bayern Munich, but the Spanish international has not been informed of any interest from the Bundesliga giants. Recent reports have suggested that Bayern are considering Olmo as part of their plans for the winter transfer window, although a recent update from MARCA has made clear that there has been no direct approach to the player so far. That leaves the situation at an early stage, with Bayern yet to make contact with Olmo or his representatives despite monitoring the Barcelona star. The Munich side have known about Olmo for some time, as his four-year spell at RB Leipzig allowed Bayern to follow his development closely, and their admiration has continued since his return to Barcelona. For now, though, interest has not developed into an approach. Hence, it is said to say that his importance to Hansi Flick’s side makes any potential January approach particularly complicated. The situation could develop during the coming months if Bayern decide to turn their monitoring into a formal pursuit, but there is currently no indication that Barcelona are actively considering his departure. What happens next? The biggest factor at this stage is that Olmo himself has not received a call from Bayern, meaning the current story is centred on the German club’s planning rather than negotiations with the player. For now, Olmo continues to play a key role under Flick, and losing him halfway through the season would create an obvious sporting issue. Bayern’s interest could therefore become more significant if they make direct contact and show actual willingness to meet Barcelona’s valuation.
