Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe suffers injury on international duty, will return to club for further assessment The international break is just days in, and it has already brought significant misery to Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho’s plans. Ibrahima Konate was the first player to return from international duty to Madrid with reports suggesting a possible ligament injury in his knee. To lose the centre-back so early in the season, needless to say, cripples Los Blancos’ defence. Now, however, Kylian Mbappe appears to have suffered a significant blow in France’s clash against Turkey last night and the initial signs do not look good. Injured after scoring Mbappe was a  starter for France  in Zinedine Zidane’s first game in charge of the national team and was seen in discomfort immediately after scoring the match-winning goal in the 54th minute. The pain forced him to go to ground and the medical staff tended to him immediately. Eventually, however, it became glaringly obvious that the player could not continue, and Zidane subbed him off in the 59th minute. As reported by  Fabrice Hawkins , the injury appears to be a tendon injury and Real Madrid will hope his layoff period is not too long. After all, he is the heart and soul of the team’s attacking department. Mbappe will return to Madrid In their routine post-match update on their  official website , Real Madrid acknowledged and confirmed that Mbappe has suffered an injury and even added that the French Federation have ruled him out for the rest of the international break. After some preliminary tests in the national team camp, Mbappe is thus expected to return to Madrid where he will undergo extensive diagnostics to determine the nature and severity of his injury.  There is, at this point, a real chance he will miss a part of club football even after the end of the international break. All eyes are now on the statement Real Madrid will release after the player undergoes the relevant tests.
