Real Madrid full-back confronts Germany legend Joshua Kimmich after controversial goal: ‘He wasn’t very polite’ Denzel Dumfries has accused Joshua Kimmich of crossing the line during the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Germany, with the Real Madrid full-back admitting he confronted the German midfielder after the final whistle. The flashpoint came when Brian Brobbey was left on the ground during the build-up to Germany’s goal.  Play continued and Kimmich eventually scored, giving the visitors the lead in the Nations League encounter. Dumfries did not hide his frustration when discussing the incident with ESPN (h/t Mundo Deportivo ). Dumfries unhappy with Kimmich decision The Netherlands and Real Madrid defender explained that Germany’s attack continued despite Brobbey being down, leaving the Dutch players expecting their opponents to stop play. “The left winger looked at me as if I was going to stop, but he passed the ball to Kimmich, and we all know Kimmich.  “He’s a world-class player, but we know what he’s like. He kept playing. That can’t happen to us. These are things we should be doing too,” Dumfries said. The Real Madrid player clearly felt Germany had taken advantage of the situation, while also accepting that the Netherlands needed to be more streetwise in similar moments. In the end, you still get the feeling that he wasn’t very polite. But you see that’s precisely what makes the difference.” Meanwhile, there was a more positive tone when Dumfries discussed Xavi, who took charge of his first Netherlands match. The Dutch defender believes the former Barcelona midfielder is already introducing noticeable changes to the national team’s style. “More grit, more individual duels. And I also think there’s more dynamism in possession,” he concluded.
