Osvaldo underwent emergency surgery for a pleural effusion at a public hospital in Llavallol, Buenos Aires, and was subsequently placed in intensive care. Osvaldo remains in intensive care, and although his condition remains “delicate”, he’s not considered to be in a life-threatening condition, reports Corriere. Doctors haven’t yet identified the cause of the lung infection that caused him to fall ill, according to the report. The 40-year-old played for Atalanta, Lecce, Fiorentina, Bologna, Roma, Juventus and Inter in Italy. He also scored three goals in 13 appearances while on loan at Southampton in 2013-14. He retired in the summer of 2020 after making two appearances with Argentine side Banfield. After the end of his playing career, Osvaldo faced a difficult period in his personal life. Back in 2024, Osvaldo opened up about his battle with depression and addictions in a video shared on Instagram.
