Major boost for Real Madrid as star defender ready to resume training with teammates Real Madrid’s injury woes have been a recurring theme early this season, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde all currently sidelined. The Brazilian is in the final stages of his recovery from a serious tendon injury and has received the green light to resume team training, with a return to action pencilled in for October. Militao recently received a visit at Valdebebas from Lasse Lampainen, the surgeon who operated on him, who confirmed his recovery is progressing exactly as planned. “A full day dedicated to his return as Eder continues to progress according to plan following surgery for his serious tendon injury,” Lampainen wrote on social media. The defender underwent surgery in April for a rupture of the proximal tendon of the biceps femoris, with an initial recovery estimate of around five months. Having impressed in demanding physical sessions of late, he is now ready for the crucial next step of full group training. A timely return amid defensive concerns Real Madrid are in desperate need of Militao’s quality and experience. Dean Huijsen is suspended for the Villarreal clash, while Ibrahima Konate returned from international duty with a knock, leaving Mourinho short of options alongside Antonio Rudiger. Militao’s return would provide much-needed depth and quality to the backline. That said, Real Madrid will manage his comeback with extreme caution given his injury-plagued recent history . The Brazilian has accumulated a staggering number of days on the sidelines in recent years, including two serious cruciate ligament ruptures. For now, the priority is easing Militao back gradually and ensuring he regains peak fitness before being thrown into competitive action.
