But there were question marks too, as Adeyemi was far from consistent during his time at Dortmund and had famously missed a goalscoring opportunity in the 2024 Champions League final against Real Madrid. As reported by Diario SPORT, the player already commands a €40 million price-tag thanks to his electric start to life at Barcelona. Indeed, the forward has already been involved in six goals six matches. The German was very much a market opportunity for Barcelona. Agent Jorge Mendes repeatedly offered the player, and Flick and Deco eventually gave the green light once the deal met certain financial conditions. Aware he would be in something of a supporting role, Adeyemi was nonetheless convinced he would play plenty and has repaid that faith with impressive performances, signing until 2031 out of a genuine desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt. His fine start has already earned him a recall to the German national team, with new coach Jurgen Klopp set to make him one of his attacking references going forward. Klopp has also come out in support of Adeyemi after he missed a glaring scoring opportunity vs the Netherlands recently. From Barcelona’s perspective, the business could hardly be looking better. Flick adores Adeyemi as a differential option capable of breaking games open, whether from the start or off the bench, and the player himself is confident he can eventually force his way into a regular starting role. Should Barcelona ever decide to cash in, the club believe his value would already double what they paid. At €40 million now and rising, Adeyemi is shaping up to be one of the shrewdest pieces of business Barcelona have done in recent years, both sportingly and economically.
