Bastian Schweinsteiger states that Germany is no longer a top team  Following Germany’s 1-0 loss to Greece, former Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said the national team is no longer a top side. Speaking on Das Erste , he explained: “We’re no longer a top team. We’re now just an average team. We no longer have players who make the difference. Even Greece have Karetsas, Tzolis, Pavlidis – for me, those are players who make the difference. Hopefully Jürgen Klopp manages to develop a team that can play Klopp football.” Ahead of the games, Klopp called up an extended squad of 44 players divided into two groups. Following the draw against the Netherlands and the loss to Greece, the team’s performances have prompted criticism over whether Germany currently possess the quality required to compete with the world’s leading sides.
