Barcelona long-term managerial target has special exit clauses in current contract – report Barcelona may already have a route to secure Cesc Fabregas if the club eventually decides to make the former midfielder its next head coach. According to AS , the former midfielder and the current Como manager has a special clause in his contract with the Serie A side that could allow one of his former clubs to appoint him without entering into a traditional transfer-style negotiation with the Italian side. The development is particularly relevant because Fabregas has emerged as a name of interest within Barcelona’s hierarchy .  Notably, the club remains satisfied with Hansi Flick, but there is already an expectation that succession planning will eventually become necessary. Flick’s current agreement runs until 2028, with an option for another season.  That means there is no immediate managerial vacancy at Camp Nou, but Barcelona are apparently looking beyond the present when considering potential candidates. The idea of Fabregas eventually returning to the club in a managerial capacity has gained support among senior figures .  His knowledge of Barcelona’s footballing culture, combined with his experience of working in different environments since leaving the club as a player, makes him a distinctive candidate for the future. Mind you, Barcelona are not currently searching for Flick’s replacement, meaning any interest in Fabregas is centred on longer-term planning rather than an imminent change on the bench. If any of those teams decide they want to appoint him, the clause would allow them to secure his services for a predetermined amount rather than having to negotiate a compensation package directly with Como. That could become significant if Barcelona eventually formalise their interest.  Instead of having to convince Como to release their coach on separate terms, the Catalan club would reportedly have a contractual route already in place. For now, though, there is little reason for Barcelona to activate anything, as Flick remains tied to the club until 2028, while his additional extension option provides further stability.
