Barcelona begin mapping out Sergio Busquets’ coaching career after recent meeting with Deco Sergio Busquets has taken another step towards building a future in coaching, with the Barcelona legend holding talks with sporting director Deco about his long-term path at the club. According to SPORT , the former midfielder recently met with Deco to discuss a broad roadmap for his development within Barcelona.  It is to be noted that Busquets is currently working with Barça Atlètic , where he is getting his first real taste of life on the coaching side. The 38-year-old remains highly regarded at the club where he spent the majority of his playing career, and Barcelona are understood to be pleased that he has chosen to begin his transition into management within the organisation. For now, however, there is no rush to put Busquets in a prominent position, as his current focus is learning, gaining experience and understanding the demands of coaching from behind the scenes. Barcelona are particularly interested in allowing Busquets to develop naturally rather than placing immediate expectations on him.  Hence, the objective is to give him the time and space required to learn the profession before considering a larger role. Barcelona are preparing Busquets for a bigger role The meeting with Deco is significant because it suggests Barcelona are thinking about how Busquets’ coaching career could develop inside the club. Busquets joins familiar names for coaching licence As part of his development, Busquets will obtain his coaching licence through the Andorran Football Federation. He will do so alongside two familiar figures from his playing career, Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara. Busquets shared the Spain dressing room with Martinez, while Thiago was his teammate at Barcelona.  Their careers have since taken them towards coaching, with Thiago having previously worked on Hansi Flick’s staff at Barcelona. Thiago was involved during Flick’s first weeks at the club and remained part of his coaching setup last season before stepping away to concentrate on his own projects.
