Aston Villa sack head coach Arroyo following winless start Aston Villa have sacked head coach Natalia Arroyo following the club’s winless start to the new Barclays Women’s Super League season. The Villans announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning. The 40-year-old’s dismissal comes a little over 24 hours after Aston Villa’s 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur. That result left the club in 13th place in the Barclays Women’s Super League table, one place above the relegation zone. Arroyo was appointed Aston Villa head coach in January 2025. The Spaniard took time to implement her playing style, but results eventually started to flow, recording credible scorelines against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. Arroyo guided Aston Villa to a ninth-place finish last season and better things were expected this term. The Villans have faced some difficult fixtures at the start of this season, but no wins in four league outings has prompted the club to opt for a change in management. Aston Villa have confirmed that the club’s Women’s Technical Advisor, Brian Sørensen, will take interim charge of first team affairs. He will lead the team into their Subway Players Cup fixture at home to Newcastle United tomorrow night and could be in the dugout for the Crystal Palace game on Sunday.
