Player speaks out: He could be Liverpool's next great Swedish star Could we be looking at the next Swede to sign for Liverpool? One of Alexander Isak's compatriots has spoken out about a move. Liverpool’s record signing is a Swede, of course. Alexander Isak joined from Newcastle United in 2025 for more money than every spent before on a player by a British club. Now we’re finally starting to see why. Isak has scored four times already this season and is one of the most important players at the club, even if there remains a sense that he can achieve even higher levels in Red. We’ll certainly back him to do so. What about a compatriot to join him, then? Liverpool have been linked with another Swedish star, this time from Borussia Dortmund. CaughtOffside claimed in the summer that Daniel Svensson was very much on the Reds’ shortlist and that shouldn’t surprise anyone. The left-back position is one that Liverpool must consider, after all, as Kostas Tsimikas will almost certainly depart next year and the jury remains out on whether Milos Kerkez will make the position his own. Svensson was actually asked about this interest in a recent interview with SVT . Daniel Svensson on LFC interest Svensson isn't only wanted by Liverpool, though. Arsenal are also in the mix, apparently, and it's expected that Dortmund will field offers next year. But what are the chances of him jumping to a new club? “I saw something about it. But I haven’t heard anything more about. Of course, it can be fun to read,” said Svensson. “There was nothing concrete and I had not heard anything more than what was in the newspaper. I am happy in Dortmund and look forward to continuing my journey there.” It's a pretty stock answer, as you'd expect. The key point, though, is that Svensson claims he never actually heard anything himself. In other words, any interest from Liverpool never went as far as contacting the player or his representatives. This isn't a deal that they, or Arsenal for that matter, have made any real progress on. But we do think that will change. Svensson is sure to be on the list of Tsimikas replacements next year and this may prove to simply be the start of a saga. Especially if Arsenal are there to put up a fight.
