In-form Stoke improving 'small details' - Johnson

Getting better at the "small details" in matches contributed to Stoke City's upturn in Championship results before the international break, on-loan Potters defender Ben Johnson has said. Stoke began the campaign with three successive league defeats but have since taken 13 points from an available 15 and are seventh in the table. The most recent of their four victories during that run was a comeback win against Sheffield United on 19 September. "We scored two unbelievable goals, which aren't going to happen every week, but I feel that we got what we deserved out of that game with the way we played," Johnson, 26, told BBC Radio Stoke. "We could have panicked and played into their hands, we could have started going long and rushing things, but we didn't. "That was definitely a statement win and that's something that has been built with the confidence of the past five games. "Of course there will be tough situations and tough periods in the season but I feel like the performance is the most important thing first. "We played Southampton and Wolves [before the unbeaten run] and for large periods of those games, we performed well. It was just those small details and I feel like we're improving with those each week." "We've become good mates off the pitch as well and I'm sure those relationships will grow," said former West Ham full-back Johnson. "Ever since they've come, I wanted to make them feel welcome because that's what the other players did for me. It's important for every player to feel welcome, especially coming from a different culture in the MLS and their ages as well. "They've done brilliantly since coming in.
