Barcelona winger sidelined with long-term injury continues to make progress in recovery FC Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji was dealt a massive setback this summer as he suffered an ACL rupture during pre-season. He underwent a successful operation on 12 August 2026 and has since begun what is expected to be a long and gradual recovery process. It is the second such injury of the young attacker’s career, having previously torn his ACL while playing for FC Copenhagen a couple of years ago. Making progress Bardghji has a long road ahead of him as he underwent surgery and has started his rehabilitation. Earlier today, the Swedish international shared a new update on his recovery from injury on social media. Courtesy: Instagram Bardghji posted a photograph of himself working in the gym, with a bandage around his left knee and his crutches on the floor. The image shows the rehabilitation programme he is following, with weights visible around him. He continues with his daily work despite still being in the early stages of his recovery, aiming to make as much progress as possible and, where possible, shorten the expected timeframe for his return to competitive action. Only recently, the Sweden international also begun completing sessions in the swimming pool as part of his rehabilitation, which was a key step forward. Signed from Copenhagen in 2025, the young winger had a hard time getting regular minutes in his debut season due to Lamine Yamal’s spectacular form. And, with Barcelona adding two new attackers in the summer in the form of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi meant Bardghji fell further down the pecking order. As such, there was a genuine possibility of him leaving the club, either on loan or a permanent transfer with a buyback option. But the injury changed the entire picture as he was ruled out of action for a lengthy period. Now, the Swedish winger is fully focused on his recovery, hoping to recover in time to play for Barcelona towards the back end of the current season.
