Chelsea hold off Lyon for Champions League draw

The sides were meeting for the first time since the Blues knocked the holders out in a dramatic 2023 quarter-final, this time with former Lyon manager Sonia Bompastor in the visiting dugout. After a cagey first half, the game opened up after the break but neither side could find a winner, with Lauren James missing a big chance and Hannah Hampton making a brilliant save from Ada Hegerberg in the closing stages. For their dogged defence against a side who scored eight in their Champions League opener last week, Chelsea leave Lyon with a point from their most challenging league phase fixture. More to follow.
