Official | Mohamed Abdelmonem leaves Egypt national team set-up to return to OGC Nice Mohamed Abdelmonem (27) has left the Egyptian national team set-up as a precautionary measure to return to OGC Nice, it was confirmed by the club on Thursday. The decision for the Egyptian defender to return to his club was taken in conjunction with the medical staff of the national team. The decision was influenced by the conditions of the pitch for their upcoming game. The pitch is synthetic; hence the concern, especially given Abdelmonem’s recent injury history. The defender missed much of last season due to an ACL injury. Upon his return, he also later sustained an ankle injury that ruled him out of two Egypt games. Announcing the decision, Nice thanked the Egyptian national team for releasing the player. He therefore returns to the south of France, where he will prepare for Le Gym’s next game in Ligue 1, which comes against RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday 11th October. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
