RFEF president pushing for the 2030 World Cup final to be played in Barcelona or Madrid
RFEF president pushing for the 2030 World Cup final to be played in Barcelona or Madrid Rafael Louzan, president of the RFEF, spoke to the media today at a public appearance, where he made it clear that he wants Spain to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup final, leaving the door open for it to be played at either the Spotify Camp Nou or the Bernabeu. The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay also involved in the tournament’s centenary celebrations. As for the final, Morocco’s Hassan II Stadium, still under construction in Casablanca, has emerged as a ccontender, along with Barcelona’s Camp Nou and Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. Louzan clear about his stance Now, Louzan has made it clear that he will continue to push for Spain to host the final. “We will try to go to one of the two big ones (Real Madrid or Barcelona). The 2030 World Cup begins in Spain with Spain and Portugal. It is the year of the Centenary,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo . Camp Nou is in contention to host the 2030 World Cup final. This World Cup, which is born in Spain and Portugal, and in which Morocco also participates, must be finished in Spain,” he added. “We have to finish all 11 stadiums, the nine main ones and the two adjacent ones, so that we can host the best World Cup in history..” He was equally clear about his preferred outcome, adding: “We are going to organise the final in Spain.” The RFEF president was also asked whether the decision could depend on whether Gianni Infantino remains as FIFA president. Louzan stressed that the decision is not his to make, saying: “I cannot decide that. The 211 countries with the right to vote have to do it. We have to see who stands until 18 November. Infantino has submitted his candidacy and we will wait and see what happens.” RFEF President Louzan (R) pushing for Spain to host 2030 WC Final. His response was cautious as he said: “There is no need to speculate. When there is a ruling on the Manchester City case, we will talk about it. I have quite enough to deal with here.” Asked specifically about the Negreira case, the RFEF president called for the Spanish justice system to reach a conclusion. “We have already said that justice should act as soon as possible because I think it is very necessary to put an end to this interpretation in which the Negreira case is always brought into it. “Something like that should never, ever have happened. Let justice speak and we will take note of what happens.”
