AS Monaco set ambitious academy objective

AS Monaco set ambitious academy objective Get French Football News understands that AS Monaco have set the ambitious objective of having a third of their first-team squad comprised of players from their academy, La Diagonale. Currently, the likes of Anis Soubeir, Safouane Benzahra, Pape Cabral, Ilane Touré, and Samuel Nibombe are earning minutes with Filipe Luís’ side, having graduated from the Principality club’s academy. However, by setting a target of having 30% of academy players in the first team, Monaco want to go further. Speaking about the wider evolution of La Diagonale, the director, Sébastien Muet, revealed that there is also an ongoing internationalisation. “ We want to work with the French players who have the highest potential, but fundamentally, Monaco wants to have an international dimension,” he told Get French Football News in an exclusive interview. “We have an international dimension. We have an attacker who plays for the Denmark U17s (Ekene Chukwuani) who has been with us for the past two seasons. It means that there is an opening of our borders, beyond Monaco but also beyond France, too. It is quite interesting. Today, it is true that, as well as the French language, we are hearing more and more of the English language within the walls of La Diagonale. “ Read our exclusive interview with Muet in full HERE GFFN | Luke Entwistle
