Liverpool's 'major target' now revealed as meeting held
Liverpool's 'major target' now revealed as meeting held Liverpool have been linked with that many players over the last few months that it's been hard to keep track of. Even before the 2026 World Cup kicked off, the Anfield outfit were being linked with moves for several different players. In the end, they spent over £150 million on trying to improve their first-team squad and, while each of those four new arrivals that they added to their ranks have helped improve Liverpool's performances, there's always room for improvement. This is why, despite the transfer window being shut, that there are several players consistently being linked with a switch. Some rumours have come and gone but, others have stayed strong with one of the Reds' 'major targets' now being shared. Michael Olise is a major target for Liverpool Mohamed Salah's Liverpool exit was easily the highest profile transfer to make its way out of Anfield this summer. Although the Reds did spent over £120 million on Bradley Barcola , no news shocked fans more than Salah's exit. Not only did he leave Liverpool but they also never recieved any sort of transfer fee for him even though he had a year left on his deal. Obviously, this meant that his £20 million-per-year wages were taken off the books but, without a suitable replacement lined up, it felt like a very silly decision for Liverpool to make. And, since they've still not replaced him, fans haven't fully forgiven Liverpool for the decisions they made. However, that could all be about to change after the latest update on Michael Olise's situation from Christian Falk. "During the summer window, Olise was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but Bayern remained adamant that the winger was not for sale and resisted any approaches for the Frenchman," he wrote . "Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are also searching for a left-footed winger capable of operating on the right, with Olise emerging as one of their major targets. "Olise is currently under contract at Bayern Munich until 2029, but the club are keen to reward his remarkable progress by tying him down to a new long-term agreement. "Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Bayern officials recently met with Olise’s agent, Glen Tweneboah, in Munich to discuss how his client’s public image could be presented more effectively, with the club also standing to benefit from such a strategy. "Bayern’s management understand that negotiations over a new contract could prove more complicated than those involving Harry Kane, while Olise and his representatives have so far given no indication as to whether the winger is prepared to extend his stay beyond 2029." Liverpool signing Michael Olise would be perfect Ever since it was announced that Salah was going to exit Anfield, everyone has suggested Olise as his successor . The attacker joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in July 2024 and, since then he's scored 50 goals across all competitions. The fact that he's also got himself 58 assists in just 114 matches is also incredibly impressive. Olise is also only 24 years old so, even though he's already one of the world's best right-wingers, he could very easily improve and become even better. Obviously, it would cost Liverpool an awful lot of money to bring the Frenchman to Anfield but, if they can agree a deal with the Bundesliga giants, their right-wing would be sorted for years to come. Here's hoping that more news emerges about Olise's future and Liverpool finally get their hands on one of their long-term targets.
