Liverpool now favourites to sign 'excellent' star who Arsenal also want
Liverpool now favourites to sign 'excellent' star who Arsenal also want Liverpool have been linked with many different players over the last couple of years. Some of their long-term targets have managed to make their way to Anfield while some have been missed out on. But, now that Andoni Iraola is in charge , it would not be a surprise to see even more players emerge as an interest for Liverpool. They may have added four new players to their ranks over the summer but, that doesn't mean that their team is ready to compete for any sort of silverware yet. However, if they can sign two or three more players to further improve their first-team squad, they would be well on their way to getting back to the top. And, after the latest news to emerge from Anfield, that certainly seems like what they're trying to do. Liverpool are now the favourites to sign Kevin Schade, the deal could be on in January One of the main positions that Liverpool need to improve is their right-wing. Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola have all taken it in turns to play on the right for the Reds this season. Of the lot, Gakpo has easily been the best performer but, since all four of them still play better on the left, it's clear that a natural right-winger is needed. Many different players were linked with a move over the summer with most people thinking that replacing Mohamed Salah would be on top of their priority list. However, that clearly wasn't the case but, in the upcoming January transfer window, that could all be about to change. That is, if an update from TEAMtalk is to be believed. "Liverpool have emerged as a genuine contender and one of the strong favourites to sign Brentford winger Kevin Schade – and a deal could be done as soon as January, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal," they wrote . "The Bees, as we revealed back on 7 September, are keen to tie the versatile forward down to new long-term terms and have already opened talks with his representatives. Improved wages are on the table as the club seeks to protect one of its most valuable assets. "However, a parting of ways cannot be ruled out and, should they fail to agree a new deal, Brentford would be expected to move him on for a healthy profit rather than risk his value dropping with only a year remaining on his deal. "A failure to agree terms on an extension in the coming weeks unlocks the possibility of a mid-season sale, sources insist, though competition for his services would be strong, with Liverpool not the only side keen. "In addition to Liverpool, Arsenal are also widely regarded by sources as keen admirers after tracking him closely towards the end of the summer window. "Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also monitored the direct, physical winger for some time, while Manchester United have more recently been linked with an interest ahead of a potential January or summer move." Kevin Schade has been on Liverpool's shortlist for a while now One of the main things that has probably put Liverpool off making a move for Schade is that he's often used as a left-winger by Brentford. And, the fact that he's right-footed isn't ideal either as, all of Liverpool's current attackers are also right-footed. Salah was the anomaly as his left-foot was like a rocket and, while a lot of his game was about cutting in and getting a shot off, his dribbling and keen eye for a pass made it so that he was hard to defend. Ever since he joined Brentford, the " excellent " winger has constantly been getting linked with a move to a bigger club but, now that the market is so inflated, this could be the best time for the Bees to sell. Obviously, this isn't ideal for Liverpool as they were already getting quoted over £80 million for Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh but, if a deal can be struck, it certainly feels like it would be worth Liverpool doing. That is, even if he does prefer to play on the left.
