NWSL: New expansion side Atlanta City confirms club image and branding

NWSL: New expansion side Atlanta City confirms club image and branding Atlanta City FC will play in the NWSL from 2028. The Georgia-based outfit is the newest team to be introduced into the fold of the top tier of women’s football in the USA. The NWSL’s latest expansion side unveiled its name, crest and colours this week. The main colour is Atlanta red and the club emblem shows off a phoenix in the centre of a circular badge. The crest is designed to be different of that of its counterpart MLS team Atlanta United. Of course, there will still be some connection, with the primary colour being the recognisable red. This primary colour provides some connection to Atlanta’s other professional neighbouring sports team, including Atlanta United on some levels The shade of red used though, is lighter than that of other teams, adding their own twist of identity. The colour palette also includes shades of Georgia peach, platinum metallic and black char . The crest also embodies local history. It is centred on a phoenix, which Atlanta adopted in 1887 to symbolise the rise from the destruction of the Civil War. The club isn’t said to be a ‘little sister’ to Atlanta United. Instead, it is seeking to forge its own identity and make its way in America’s top flight. “Our goal is to build Atlanta City FC into a championship-caliber club that reflects the attitude of Atlanta and serves as a source of pride for the passionate supporters of this city,” president of soccer Mauricio Culebro said.
