Two iconic careers approaching the finish line while, once again, following completely different paths. For the former, tension and doubts about the future; for the latter, a memorable celebration already being prepared in Buenos Aires. 💥 Ronaldo, tension with Portugal and an uncertain future Cristiano Ronaldo’s finale with Portugal has suddenly become complicated. CR7 did not take kindly to being left on the bench against Norway and, after the words of head coach Jorge Jesus, decided to leave the national team camp, announcing that he will explain the reasons for his choice at a later time. The situation became even more tense in the following hours. Jorge Jesus and Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença went to meet Ronaldo at Copenhagen airport in an attempt to convince him to stay. CR7, however, did not change his mind and left. His farewell to the national team is not yet official, but what happened inevitably raises questions about his future. Making the story even more impactful was Ronaldo’s decision to communicate publicly through Instagram, promising to share his version of events later on. Jesus, who had already coached CR7 at Al Nassr, explained instead that he had made the decision solely based on the needs of the match. A clear change from the recent past, when Ronaldo had almost always maintained a central role for Portugal. 💙 Messi, Argentina prepares its final celebration The situation surrounding Lionel Messi is completely different. On Tuesday, the Argentine superstar will play against Benin in Buenos Aires, in what will be his final match with La Albiceleste after the announcement he made on social media a few weeks ago. More than just a friendly, it will be an evening designed to celebrate one of the most important players in the history of the national team. The ending also shows how much Messi’s relationship with Argentina has changed over the years: after a journey that was not always easy with the environment, the fans, and the media, the last few years have completely transformed the picture. Lionel Scaloni’s management has also been crucial, as he was able to build a team that continued to get the best out of Messi’s qualities while adapting to his evolution. The result has been the most successful period of his time with La Albiceleste, with two Copa Américas and the World Cup. This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence.
