France play Italy tonight in a really interesting fixture under new manager Zinedine Zidane. The new coach has already tried a few different setups and systems, all of which use PSG stars Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele in attack. With Kylian Mbappe out injured, there’s been a reshuffle, and tonight L’Equipe are reporting that Doue will be used on the left wing, fresh from a game against Belgium where he was at his very best. Last night the new coach said that Doue must “express himself in his best position,” and pointed out that he has “one, two or three positions where he can play really well.” It’s now on the French football legend to work out how best to use him. Doue takes advantage of Mbappe’s absence to shine for France “Yes, the play out wide worked well. It wasn’t easy when we didn’t have the ball—their two full-backs were playing very high up—but everyone was good. Désiré and Jacquet played well, but so did everyone else. It’s hard to single anyone out; I’m happy,” Zidane said to the press after the Belgium game. “Desire had a very good match,” he concluded. Doue now has the chance to build on that. We will certainly be tuning in for the game, which looks like the pick of the bunch from tonight’s games. In other news… Some bad international break news was that Senny Mayulu has picked up a left thigh injury while playing for France’s Under-21s. Ousmane Dembele is the focus of the French national team while Kylian Mbappe is out, and he spoke about the differences between playing for them and playing for PSG.
