‘It’s always a tight game’ – Liverpool boss Taylor expecting game of fine margins at Manchester United

‘It’s always a tight game’ – Liverpool boss Taylor expecting game of fine margins at Manchester United Liverpool head coach Gareth Taylor is expecting this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United to come down to fine margins. The Reds travel to The Progress With Unity Stadium to take on The Red Devils on Saturday afternoon. Liverpool return to league action just six days on from a 2-0 Merseyside derby victory over Everton. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Taylor said that Liverpool had little time to celebrate that win given the congested fixture schedule. “Any time you play a derby, it’s really important to win,” Taylor said. “We’ve tasted that, it’s a nice feeling. As a coach, it doesn’t last long; probably 10-20 minutes of celebration and then it’s onto the next game. “We had a quick turnaround with a fixture against Birmingham on Wednesday night where we had to wrap people up in cotton wool with this game in mind two days later. “Two games in six days is very tough just before the international break.” Latest opponents Manchester United are in transition with new head coach Eva Olid having been appointed over the summer, but Taylor still expects a tight encounter. He said “They’re in a transition period with a new coach with new ideas, but they’ve got good players.   “It’s always a tight game, the margins are really tight. They were against Manchester City and Tottenham and I think this will be the same. The margins will be tight, but we want to come out on the right side of it.” Liverpool are without several players due to injury, but they have still managed to take seven points from four games. Taylor shared his thoughts on where his side can continue to grow. He said “We need to keep improving in all of the things that we have done well. Everything that we do, we need to keep turning it up a notch.   “We’d love to say that we are not going to pick up any more injuries in that second period because there are nine games when we come back [after the international break]. I think we have three games in a week straight after which is quite demanding, it’s quite a tough schedule.” Liverpool’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United kicks-off at 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
