‘We know we have to improve’ – Passmoor comments on Leicester City’s form
‘We know we have to improve’ – Passmoor comments on Leicester City’s form Leicester City manager Rick Passmoor says that his side know they have to improve results and performances, although there is a long way to go in the season. The Foxes started the campaign with back-to-back wins in Barclays WSL2, but they have lost their two league games since those victories. When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s Barclays WSL2 fixture at Sunderland, Passmoor said that the schedule has been tough on his side given the number of injuries that they’ve faced, but they are ready to try and get back on track. “You’ve got to look in the mirror and I’ve got to take accountability for the players and for the team,” Passmoor said. “It was a three-game week, was it too much? We are training with few numbers; we’ve got 25-30 percent of our outfield players in the medical room, so potentially for the players that were available, a three-game week might have been too much. We have got to learn from that in terms of how we set them up, the away travel, etc as well. “We have debriefed and looked at what we could have done better. How I could have acted and reacted to ensure that the team and players were prepared. We’ve had some very open and honest conversations and we know we have to improve. “It doesn’t define us in September. We are still learning how we want to play and we are ensuring that we meet that criteria as a minimum on a daily basis, looking forward to this weekend’s game.” Latest opponents Sunderland are still unbeaten and are in second place in the Barclays WSL2 table. Passmoor said that his side need to be prepared for the challenge on and off the pitch this weekend. He said “They’ve recruited very well with the input and finances of Bay in a different era. We know that the parent club are doing terrifically well. “They’ve recruited really well. When you look at them from pre-season onwards, they’re getting results and gaining momentum which adds to the confidence. They are a very good team indeed. “Every time you go up to the North East, you need to be ready and prepared. Things do make a difference like the changing rooms, the pitch at Eppleton has a little slope and they have a strong home record. We are going there with an appetite and belief to get a result.” Leicester City enter the international break after this weekend’s fixture and Passmoor knows that a result can put a positive spin on things. He said “It’d be a different narrative [if we win]. We are growing and learning, but have some key starters out injured. We would like to get that result, however, first and foremost, it’s about the performance, making sure that you can see the identity of this group of players.” Leicester City’s Barclays WSL2 fixture at Sunderland kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
