Euro giants send scouts to watch Liverpool star in action
Euro giants send scouts to watch Liverpool star in action The transfer window isn't even open at the moment but Liverpool have still been making headlines. At the moment, Andoni Iraola's men are unbeaten across all competitions and, although we're only a few games into the season, the impact that the Spaniard has had on Liverpool's ranks has been impressive. Of course, there are still some teething problems such as who Iraola can start in the double pivot but, as the Reds' players get more used to their new style of play and their new manager, things should become a lot easier. However, since there are so many of Liverpool's players who's contracts expire in June 2027, change is likely to be afoot. And, after the latest news to emerge from Anfield, they could be about to lose one of their key players. Juventus have sent their scouts to watch Virgil van Dijk vs Germany When looking at all of Liverpool's contracts that expire in June 2027, Alisson and Virgil van Dijk are the two most important players. Of course, others such as Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez could also end up leaving but, they're much easier to replace than the aforementioned duo. That's why, ever since fans realised that this was the last year of Alisson and Van Dijk's contracts, they've demanded that their club offer them new deals. However, since they're both on so much money, deals are going to be hard to agree due to their age and importance to the team. So, the fact that Julian Ward and co. are taking their time with negotiating a deal, makes a lot of sense. But, if they wait too long, other clubs could end up swooping in with Juventus already sending their scouts out to watch Van Dijk in action against Germany. "The Bianconeri executives sent an emissary, one who is also very close to Luciano Spalletti, to the Netherlands to gather notes and check out firsthand - and in a national, not club," La Gazzetta dello Sport wrote . "Context: Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey and experienced defender Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool (380 appearances for the English club). "The striker's assessment lasted only 35 minutes due to injury: there will likely be other opportunities. One thing is certain: the Juventus team is already hard at work preparing for the upcoming transfer window. "September and October are the months of monitoring, expanding lists, and considering numerous names for every position. "Decisions and moves will have to wait until the winter and especially the summer of 2027. But in the meantime, there's no shortage of ideas, and among those under scrutiny are Xavi's two internationals." Liverpool can't let Virgil van Dijk exit Anfield Van Dijk may be 35 years old now but, he's still one of Liverpool's best defenders . The Dutchman has been the rock in the centre of the Reds' defence for as long as anyone can remember and, without him, the Anfield outfit would have been nowhere near as successful as they are. Of course, the way that he performs for the rest of the 2026-27 season may determine what happens to his future but, if he continues in this run of form, there's no way that Liverpool can let him go, especially as a free agent. Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet will both probably want to get into Iraola's starting XI next season but, if Van Dijk believes he can do another couple of seasons at the top level, it's definitely something that Liverpool should do. Not only is he the Reds' leader but, he's also a mentor to the youngsters and, without him, the average age of Liverpool's squad would drop dramatically. And, while this is a good thing, clubs always need a mixture of youth and experience so that they have a happy balance. Here's hoping that Juventus' recent scouting mission doesn't make them want to agree a move.
