Liverpool wonderkid proves he's ready to start for Andoni Iraola

Liverpool wonderkid proves he's ready to start for Andoni Iraola Liverpool have always been known for having a lot of talent among their ranks. Of course, there have been times when their performances have been a bit ropey but, they've always managed to find a way to get back to their best. Thanks to Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have got a solid base for their team and, although they finished fifth in the Premier League when managed by Arne Slot last term, Andoni Iraola's recent appointment seems to have improved things . The fact that he's also allowing some of Liverpool's youngsters to regularly feature for their first-team is also very appreciated by fans. Obviously, none of them are guaranteed a spot in his starting XI but, after what has just happened, it feels like one of them deserves a chance to start more often. Trey Nyoni has been promoted from England's Under-20's to their Under-21's and Rio Ngumoha are Liverpool's two brightest prospects at the moment. The English duo found their way into Iraola's squad plans this season and, even though Ngumoha was given a regular role by Slot , he was never played as much as he has been this season. And, while his presence is important, it feels like Nyoni's could be more needed. Curtis Jones chose to exit Liverpool in the summer and, even though he was probably going to leave for free next summer, it still feels like Liverpool should have tried to keep hold of him. However, that evidently wasn't the case which is why Nyoni's role for Liverpool this season could be rather important. Despite his impressive club form, he's not managed to get called up to England's senior squad just yet but, as per an update from Liverpool's Official Website, the Englishman seems to be one step closer to that call-up as he's just been promoted to their Under-21's squad. "The Liverpool midfielder was initially included in his country’s U20s group for the current international break and started their wins over Italy and France respectively," they wrote . "But Nyoni has now been promoted to the U21s squad and could therefore make his debut at that level in their upcoming matches against Slovakia (October 2) or the Republic of Ireland (October 6)." Andoni Iraola needs to start Trey Nyoni more often At the moment, since Nyoni is still so young, he's Liverpool's fourth-choice midfielder. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch are all ahead of him in the pecking order despite the young Englishman actually being one of Liverpool's better players when chosen to feature. Obviously, Iraola is probably trying to protect him from playing too much but, now that he's just one step away from England's senior squad, it certainly feels like Nyoni should be getting more starts at Liverpool . When he played against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, he was easily one of the Reds' best players and, if he's going to be stuck at Anfield for a while, the more game time he gets, the better he'll become. If Iraola wants to prove to Liverpool's academy graduates that there's a clear pathway to first-team football in L4, starting Nyoni would be a perfect way for them to do that. Here's hoping that the 19-year-old plays well for England's Under-21's and proves his worth.
