Door 'shut' on Barrow captain Williams returning
MJ Williams joined Barrow from MK Dons in January 2025 [Getty Images] Barrow manager Adam Murray says the door is currently "shut" on captain MJ Williams getting back into the team. Williams was named as skipper ahead of the season by Murray, and started in seven of their first eight matches. But the 30-year-old midfielder was sent-off in the defeat to Solihull Moors on 15 September for two yellow cards and he has not played since. In the subsequent three matches, Barrow have won them all to climb into the top half of the National League - their best run since December 2023 - and Murray is not planning on re-introducing Williams into the squad. "As it stands, the door is shut," Murray told BBC Radio Cumbria. "MJ is a good guy. I've got a good relationship with him, but from a football point of view, we're on different pages. "And we've seen in recent weeks when we get everyone on the same page, it's a powerful thing. "At the minute, there isn't a place for MJ. I'll never say never but we've moved to a different page."
