Thomas Tuchel provides Arsenal injury update after England scare

Thomas Tuchel provides Arsenal injury update after England scare Ezri Konsa Injury Update Gives England and Arsenal Timely Boost England have one problem eased before the trip to Croatia. Ezri Konsa is back in training, back in contention and, by the sound of it, back in Thomas Tuchel’s thinking for Saturday. Konsa had missed England’s 2-0 win over the Czech Republic after suffering a minor issue in the aftermath of the 3-2 defeat to Spain, a match he started. It was enough to keep him out as an unused substitute, but not enough to rule him out for long. He trained fully on Friday at HNK Rijeka and that changes the picture. Ezri Konsa returns for England Tuchel kept it simple. “It seems that Ezri Konsa is back,” Tuchel said. “He did the full training today and this is of course a lot of hope for tomorrow, because he is a key player for us. “Nico O’Reilly our left-back left the camp, and on the right side [of centre-back], we have some competition and Marc [Guehi] should be ready to go and very likely to start.” That tells you two things. First, Konsa has recovered quickly. Second, Marc Guehi is in line to feature anyway, with Tuchel clearly weighing his options at the back ahead of a more demanding away fixture. Photo IMAGO Thomas Tuchel confirms Nico O’Reilly setback There is less good news for Nico O’Reilly. The Manchester City defender has left camp and will take no part against Croatia or in next Tuesday’s return game against the Czechs. Tuchel said: “He unfortunately had to leave camp to get treatment as soon as possible. With his discomfort, it was just too painful. He could not come back on the pitch. He is the only one who is not available. Everyone else started training and finished training today [Friday].” Arsenal injury news before Leeds clash For Arsenal, this matters. Konsa arrived from Aston Villa for £51 million this summer and any fitness concern is going to be watched closely. Mikel Arteta will want him available for the visit of Leeds after the international break. For England, the equation is straightforward. A key defender has trained, a teammate has gone home, and the squad now looks far healthier before Croatia.
