Andoni Iraola can lose 'stunning' Liverpool star, Champions League winners want him

Andoni Iraola can lose 'stunning' Liverpool star, Champions League winners want him Liverpool were expected to undergo a massive rebuild in the summer. And, while four new players were brought through the Anfield doors, a lot of Liverpool's supporters expected many different changes across every area of their squad. Of course, the arrivals of Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet have already had a huge impact on the way that things have panned out but, if there were one or two more players brought in, things would have probably been a lot better for them. Indeed, Andoni Iraola still needs to get his men in line and used to his style of playing but, trying to instil that into a bunch of new players rather than ones who were already there and who have already played in a certain way for so long is probably much easier. So, the fact that only four players were signed by Liverpool in summer took fans aback. Obviously, the winter window is the next one up and even more change is expected to take place there with some of Liverpool's first-team squad already being linked with a move away. Juventus want to try their luck at signing Alisson again One deal that Liverpool will have been happy to get over the line in summer will have been Alisson 's contract extension . The 34-year-old is one of the Reds' longest-serving players and, although he's now entering the twilight stages of his career, he's still easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Some of his performances from the 2026-27 season already have been impeccable and, it's clear why he's still Liverpool's first-choice, especially since Giorgi Mamardashvili is his back-up. However, as he's getting on a bit now and because his injury history is a bit spotty, some questions are being asked about whether Liverpool should extend his stay or not. Most people believe that they should but, since nothing is decided yet, the rumour mill has started to turn with TuttoSport now sharing that Juventus want to make another move for the Brazilian after their failed attempt this summer. "The first is Alisson , whom Massara and Spalletti got to know closely in Rome," they wrote . "He'll turn 35 in October 2027, but his performance hasn't suffered; quite the opposite. He's still among the top ten goalkeepers in the world, and in recent months he had spoken directly with Lucio about joining Juventus. "Then, Liverpool, lacking leadership, chose to secure him. The Brazilian is a goalkeeper worth considering on a free transfer: with a salary reduced from his current salary with the Reds, he could represent an opportunity." Liverpool must have a succession plan in place if they let Alisson go The fact that Rio Ferdinand has described some of Alisson 's performances as " stunning " proves how good the Brazilian actually is. Of course, if his injury-rate slowed down then he'd easily be able to stick with Liverpool until he was 40 but, since Mamardashvili was called up to replace Alisson for 20 games last term, it's clear that he's rather injury prone. The length of time that Alisson spent out of action for Liverpool is unheard of for a goalkeeper and, even though he's managed to stay fit for them so far, there's still a lot of the season left to go. So, if the Reds don't want to risk over £150,000 -per-week on a player who may or may not be fit, that's totally understandable but, they can't just rely on Mamardashvili to replace him. Lucca Brughmans is likely to be the other option that the Reds have to explore but, since he will only be 19 years old then, it feels like a lot of pressure to throw him straight between the sticks. All of these things points to Liverpool needing a new 'keeper and, unless they manage to bring one of them in, they shouldn't even be considering allowing Alisson to leave.
