Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou will add only 6,000 new seats this season
Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou will add only 6,000 new seats this season Barcelona will see only a modest increase in the capacity of the Spotify Camp Nou this season, with the stadium expected to gain around 6,000 seats as the renovation continues. According to MARCA , licensing issues have prevented the club from opening a larger section of the renovated stadium. It is said that Barça had hoped to increase capacity more significantly, but the phased return to the stadium will remain limited for the time being. The current capacity stands at 62,652, meaning the addition of the new seats will take the stadium to just above 68,000. Barcelona rule out opening third tier As reported before, the biggest restriction concerns the third tier of the stadium, which has been pushed back to next season . However, the club decided against installing the seats for only a handful of matches before having to remove them again to accommodate the construction of the stadium roof. That decision means fans will not have access to the third tier during this phase of the reopening. Instead, only the two VIP tiers are expected to be opened during the second half of the season, providing approximately 6,000 additional seats. Camp Nou renovation continues to affect revenue The decision has financial consequences for Barcelona as well as limiting the number of supporters able to attend matches. Instead, the restricted capacity means Barça will have to wait longer before the stadium can operate on a much larger scale. The renovation has already faced changes involving schedules, costs and materials, with several factors contributing to delays and adjustments throughout the project. The long-term target remains unchanged: Barcelona ultimately want the renovated stadium to accommodate around 105,000 spectators. The club is set to return from its temporary home at Montjuic during the early months of the 2027-28 season and by then, the roof is expected to be installed and the full seating capacity made available.
