Former Real Madrid assistant coach praises Barcelona’s playing style: ‘Very difficult to control’ At this point in time, there are barely any clubs in world football that can claim to play a more attractive brand of the sport than Barcelona. While fans will understandably remain loyal to their clubs, there is simply no denying that Barcelona under Hansi Flick are playing football at their natural best, and that the joy it provides is immense. In that sense, several Real Madrid faithful have also come out in recent times to publicly acknowledge the quality in Barcelona’s dressing room. After all, the truth cannot be refuted. Ancelotti’s son praises Barcelona Speaking to the media via Diario AS in a recent interview, former Real Madrid assistant manager and current Lille head coach Davide Ancelotti opened up on a plethora of topics related to his coaching journey. Along the way, he also spoke about Barcelona in a short segment and was directly asked if he enjoyed watching the Catalans play under Hansi Flick, especially given how he likes attacking football. And right now they are playing a very attacking football.” He then reminisced about how he has been at the receiving end of Barcelona’s ruthless attacks in the past and how he is happy to be at a distance now. “Of course I like to see Barça when they play, and I have suffered it. It was very difficult to control.” The manager also praised Raphinha for being a very dynamic striker and for everything he adds to Barcelona’s game. Davide Ancelotti has words reserved for Raphinha. But of course, you have a striker who goes to space and then you have a midfielder who puts the ball perfectly into space,” he added. The manager then spoke about Barcelona’s possession-dominant game which developed under Pep Guardiola, and how several European giants tried to replicate it, albeit to varying degrees of success. “That’s right. It happened to us in Italy. Possession began to develop. And it happened in Germany.” “With the tradition of big forwards that was always there, tell me a number 9 Germany has had after Mario Gómez. They started playing something else,” he added.
