England manager waxes lyrical about Barcelona superstar amid superb form – “He has reached another level” Anthony Gordon has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers in the early weeks of the season, settling seamlessly into Hansi Flick’s side following his summer move. The only thing missing has been his first goal in Blaugrana colours, but the winger has been in scintillating touch for England during the international break. Having scored once again in England’s 7-0 demolition of Croatia, the winger has earned praise from national team manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel hails Gordon Gordon has been phenomenal for England. (Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images) Gordon capped off a brilliant few weeks with a goal and an assist in England’s emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Croatia, and Tuchel could not hide his admiration afterwards. “Now he plays with much more aggressiveness, with more confidence. I see a player full of confidence, of faith. He has reached another level,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo ). The winger has scored in all three of England’s Nations League games during this break, against Croatia, the Czech Republic and Spain. “He has been very decisive in all three games,” the German added. In fact, Gordon has now found the net in each of his last seven appearances for England, a remarkable run that includes his contributions during the World Cup. His intensity, one of the key reasons Barcelona invested around €70 million in him, has also been evident, ranking among the squad’s top performers for sprints and top speed. Will Gordon play vs Getafe? Gordon could be rested vs Getafe. (Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images) The big question now is whether Gordon will feature when Barcelona resume their campaign against Getafe next weekend. The Englishman has four assists in La Liga, bettered only by Lamine Yamal, and his electric form would ordinarily make him an automatic starter. However, Gordon’s heavy international workload could prompt Flick to manage his minutes carefully. Gordon still has one more game to play before returning, with England facing the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday. That means he will report back to Barcelona later and more fatigued than some of his teammates, including Karim Adeyemi, who was rested by Germany and returns far fresher. As a result, Flick may be tempted to hand Adeyemi a start against Getafe , with the two competing primarily for the left-wing berth.
