Liverpool will offload struggling forward: Three clubs want January deal Liverpool strengthened their attack with a couple of new forwards in the summer transfer window. Victor Munoz was onboarded after the Reds triggered the FIFA World Cup winner’s £34m Osasuna release clause. And Andoni Iraola also reeled in Bradley Barcola in the closing stages of the window - with the France international arriving for a fee that could reach £123m. Chiesa pushed down pecking order Those signings will no doubt have an impact on forwards already on the books. One such performer would be Federico Chiesa . The Italian, who turns 29 this month, finds himself well down the pecking order under Iraola this term. Chiesa hasn’t yet managed to make it into a single matchday squad under the Basque tactico having suffered an injury in a preseason friendly against Como. Atalanta, Lazio and Inter Milan want Chiesa deal Under contract until 2028 it has been speculated for a long time that the Euro 2020 winner would be heading back to Serie A. His wages - thought to be around £150k per week - are prohibitive for Italian sides while Liverpool are also insisting on a fee. That has not stopped speculation ahead of the January transfer window however with three Italian top-flight sides now tracking Chiesa. According to a report in Calciomercato Chiesa is wanted by champions Inter Milan as well as Lazio and Atalanta. Describing Chiesa as a “struggling” Liverpool forward the report suggests that the versatile forward views a move back to Serie A as crucial to regaining his place in the national team. Chiesa wants Italy national team place back “ Federico Chiesa could return to Serie A during the winter transfer window, as the attacking winger continues to struggle to find a place at Liverpool,” the report reads. “Now in his third season in England, Federico Chiesa is ready to return to Serie A to try to find the consistency that could earn him a return to the national team in 2027. “There are currently no concrete negotiations for the player, but Inter, Atalanta, and Lazio are closely monitoring the situation and could make an attempt for the former Juventus player during the winter transfer window.” Inter came close to landing Chiesa as an alternative to Luis Henrique during the summer window but ultimately the deal fell down. Chiesa is currently miles off making it under Iraola - with younger players such as Rio Ngumoha and Lewis Koumas now staking a claim for minutes on a more regular basis than the man signed in 2024 for £12.5m from Juventus.
