Manchester City’s Iliman Ndiaye says that his ‘story’ with Marseille is unfinished
Manchester City’s Iliman Ndiaye says that his ‘story’ with Marseille is unfinished Whilst Iliman Ndiaye (26) has only just joined Manchester City, he has told La Provence that he has unfinished business at one of his former clubs, Olympique de Marseille. Ndiaye described OM as “his club” in the interview. He grew up in the French city and came through the club’s academy, without initially making a first-team appearance. It was instead in the EFL Championship that he made his breakthrough with Sheffield United before earning a €17m move to the Vélodrome back in 2023. Despite excitement around his arrival, it was a tough season for Ndiaye, who didn’t live up to expectations; it must be said that, collectively, it was a difficult season for the Ligue 1 giants, and players who were brought in for that campaign before swiftly departing, notably Ismaila Sarr, have excelled elsewhere since. Ndiaye certainly falls into that category and after impressing at Everton, he earned a €70m move to Manchester City in the summer. However, there still exists the prospect of a return to Marseille in the future, as he told La Provence. “The shouts from Marseille supporters asking me to come back? It is nice to hear. I don’t think that the story is finished, but we will see. I’m just saying, I never know where it’ll lead me, but we’ll see anyway,” said the Senegal international. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
