🚨 Cris must decide: Portugal boss opens door for Ronaldo Jorge Jesus has clearly opened the door to Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the national team. After Portugal’s 2-1 win over Norway, the national coach spoke openly about the captain’s future and assured that, from his side, “everything is open.” “I don’t know what will happen. As far as I’m concerned, everything is open,” the national coach explained after the match on Portuguese TV. When asked directly afterward whether he would consider calling Cristiano Ronaldo up again, Jorge Jesus initially placed the decision in the superstar’s own hands. "Cris has to decide what he wants to do. I’m not the one who decides that. If he is playing and wants to be involved, why not? But it doesn’t depend on me.” The Portuguese coach also spoke about the controversy that dominated the past few days and culminated in CR7 leaving the national team’s training camp before the match against Denmark. The legendary coach played down the scale of the conflict: "It was a misunderstanding. In my view, it is easy to resolve." These statements represent a clear conciliatory gesture from Jorge Jesus after several days of enormous tension surrounding the national team. Cristiano Ronaldo had left the training camp in Copenhagen after the national coach’s press conference and a conversation with Pedro Proença, the president of the Portuguese Football Federation. At the time, the Portuguese captain announced that he would explain the reasons for his decision to the Portuguese people later. Now Jorge Jesus is assuring that he is not closing the door on a possible return and making it clear that Cristiano Ronaldo’s willingness to return to the national team will be decisive before the next squad selection. On this matter, the final word has certainly not yet been spoken. A fitting ending for Portugal’s greatest footballer of all time would surely be something every football romantic would wish for.
