Former England boss backs Thomas Tuchel to lead Three Lions to Euro 2028 glory

Former England boss backs Thomas Tuchel to lead Three Lions to Euro 2028 glory Former England manager Peter Taylor believes Thomas Tuchel has the personality and experience needed to finally end the Three Lions’ long wait for a major international trophy. England were ruthless in front of goal over the weekend. They ripped Croatia apart in an impressive 7-0 thrashing that sent a message across the globe. Tuchel has already guided England to their best World Cup finish since their famous triumph in 1966, taking the team to third place. However, he has still received plenty of stick for the manner of England’s heartbreaking semi-final defeat to World Cup finalists Argentina. Despite that setback, Taylor believes Tuchel is the right man to lead England to European Championship 2028 glory on home soil. Their rampant display against Croatia may have rubberstamped that belief. “I’m not surprised they stuck with Thomas,” he said (via The Sun ). “I’ve got more impressed with him as time’s gone on. He’s shown everybody that you’ve got to be a team player, and that’s what I’ve really liked about him. “There were a lot of examples early on, including his treatment of Jude Bellingham, that showed he was having no messing about. “As a manager, you’ve got to be 100 per cent consistent and honest with your players. You need your players to want to be at every meeting. “Gareth Southgate did an outstanding job because he didn’t hesitate when it came to bringing through young players. But I think Thomas is the right man to take us to Euro 2028 glory. “We have a very strong squad and, being on home soil, I’d fancy us against anybody.” Before attention turns fully towards Euro 2028, England have another Nations League test to overcome. The Three Lions are preparing to face Czechia on Tuesday after beating them 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this week.
