ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga results: Austria Wien make history, Graz hold Pölten and Südburgenland earn first win The eighth week of results in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga saw first face off against second in the league as Sturm Graz travelled to the NV Arena in Pölten. SK Rapid also faced a major challenge as they travelled across the capital to the Generali Arena for the first ever Austria Wien and SK Rapid derby. SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg changed their fortunes as they bagged three points, finally taking them off the bottom of the league table. In Altach, the leagues top goal-scorer Petra Mikulica took her record for the season to ten goals, three ahead of Sturm Graz’s Brigitta Pulins. FK Austria Wien vs SK Rapid This fixture marked the first Vienna Derby in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga between the two sides. A historic fixture from the men’s game that has translated over to the women’s teams. Austria Wien were firm favourites and wasted no time cementing a 6-0 victory against the newly promoted SK Rapid. Elisa Pfattner got Wien’s first goal in just the fourth minute. A sign of the things to come for SK Rapid. Modesta Uka continued her fine form with another goal alongside forcing an own-goal from SK Rapid’s Ronja Leidler. The second half saw Sandra Jakobsen score her first goal for Wien since joining from Sturm Graz. Pfanner also added to the tally with a classy lob. However, the goal of the game was scored by Almedina Šišić as she fired a rocket of a free-kick past Kayleigh van Niehoff. Despite the obvious 6-0 victory, this will be a long-standing fixture of interest for both clubs. The rivalry will be one that fans and players alike will look for in the fixture list with excitement. No doubt as SK Rapid continue to invest and grow, the scorelines wont have such a chasm between the sides. 2,356 fans attended the game at the Generali Arena. SKN St. Pölten vs SK Sturm Graz The fixture started with a touching tribute from Pölten. The starting XI held up teammate Alba Szuchy’s shirt after the youngster suffered an ACL injury in their European fixture against Malmö FF. It was a tense fixture as both teams look to challenge for the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga title which finished 2-2. Pölten got off to a strong start as Lisa Ebert finished from close range to make it 1-0. Graz found form after the Pölten goal, finding themselves capable of creating space. They got their breakthrough in the 28th minute through Austrian youth international Lena Breznik. Graz then took the lead as Julia Keutz managed to tap the ball past Carina Schlüter at close range. Keutz, like Breznik is a graduate of the Sturm Graz youth set-up. Having made her debut for Graz in 2019, Keutz has been a reliable member for the first team squad since. Pölten managed to grab an equaliser through substitute Alma Aagaard to preserve their unbeaten league record. Pölten stay top of the league, with Graz in second place as Austria Wien close down on both after their win against Rapid. FC Red Bull Salzburg vs First Vienna FC 1894 First Vienna FC 1894 had some mid-week news as their manager Denny Krcmarek was released from his role. This could be seen as a rash decision after he was appointed only eight league games ago. His replacement is former SKN St. Pölten coach Peter Ganster, who has been announced as intermediate manager. His campaign got off to a loss as they fell to Red Bull Salzburg 1-3 at home. Alessia Pamminger grabbed her first goal of the season for Salzburg. The Austrian youth international managed to calmly finish in the bottom left corner of Amelie Kandlhofer’s net. First Vienna captain Claudia Wasser grabbed a goal back for her side but it was in vain. Player of the Match was undoubtedly new signing Maria Plattner, who grabbed two second half goals to win the match for Salzburg. Plattner, who signed from Bayern Munich during the off-season, has now scored three goals for her side as they sit comfortably in fifth place on 13 points. First Vienna, who finished sixth in the 2025/26 season, are currently in seventh, one point above newly promoted SK Rapid. LASK vs SpG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg Valentina Forobosko was the hero of the hour for Südburgenland as the club rises a place in the league table. As a result, they send Linz Blau-Weiß to the bottom in their place. Südburgenland were expected to lose this fixture by many but fought hard to earn their first three points of the season, winning 0-1. Emília Csejtei created some invaluable space for Südburgenland in the lead up to their vital goal, finding the feet of Forobosko. The 16-year-old wasted no time on the ball and blasted a shot past LASK goalkeeper Andrea Gurtner. Südburgenland manager Michael Thek was sent off in the 53rd minute as he protested Verena Čebić’s red card. Čebić was involved in a scrum between both sets of players. Referee Vanja Vucanovic deemed she had to go, alongside her manager Thek. Südburgenland goalkeeping coach Rainer Weber also received a red card from the referee during the drama. Besides the sending off, Thek will be happy as his side pulls away from the foot of the table. Südburgenland climb to five points earned, the same total they achieved for the entirety of the 2025/26 season. View this post on Instagram SCR Altach vs FC Blau-Weiß Linz Kleinmünchen German forward Vera Ellgass put on a second half masterclass as she scored a ten-minute hat-trick as SCR Altach swept aside Linz 6-1, sending Blau-Weiß bottom of the table. Altach remain fourth in the league standings, behind the ‘big three’ of Graz, Pölten and current champions Austria Wien. It was a game Linz probably felt like they could get back into at half-time with a score-line of 2-1. The opening goal came from the league’s top goal-scorer Petra Mikulica as the Croatia international so reliably smashed the ball beyond Linz ‘keeper Julia Zangerl. Julia Kofler, the former Werder Bremen forward, scored a second for the home side before adding another to her tally shortly after the start of the second half. The Player of the Match was clearly Ellgass — the forward not only scored three goals but also expertly assisted Mikulica. Linz’s only goal came from an unforced goalkeeping error. Lea-Sophie Nimmrichter finished into an empty Altach net after goalkeeper Stella Busse kicked a loose ball directly into Nimmrichter, leaving a clear goal-scoring opportunity for the 17-year-old. ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga teams in the UWCL and UWEC History was made in the Generali Arena this match-week as Kosovo international Modesta Uka scored Austria Wien’s first ever UEFA Women’s Champions League goal. This was during their 1-1 home draw with Inter, which also saw the capital club earn the first ever UWCL point in the clubs history. 3,609 fans attended the game in Vienna. Austria Wien now sit 13th in the UWCL table, one point behind both Manchester City and Real Madrid. Unfortunately for Austrian football fans, both SK Sturm Graz and SKN St. Pölten failed to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, as they lost to Wolfsburg and Malmö FF respectively. It’ll be the first time in five years Pölten haven’t played in the final rounds of a major European competition.
