Thomas Tuchel hints at why Quansah could have the edge over Alexander-Arnold

Thomas Tuchel hints at why Quansah could have the edge over Alexander-Arnold Thomas Tuchel has hinted at why Jarell Quansah could have the edge over Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back for England. Tuchel has largely overlooked Alexander-Arnold, with the Real Madrid defender making just two appearances under him. Alexander-Arnold received his second call-up under Tuchel for England’s first four games in the Nations League, but has been behind Quansah in the pecking order. The Bayer Leverkusen defender has started twice, while the Liverpool academy graduate has been named in the starting line-up once. Speaking ahead of England’s clash with Czechia at Wembley, Tuchel has suggested that Quansah fits his tactical approach better than Alexander-Arnold. “I think I have a clear picture of Trent. But if the question is whether he starts, I will not answer because we have one more training session to go. But yeah, he had a good match and a good assist. “Jarell also had a good match. Maybe the game model suits him a little bit better, but it is then on us to use Trent in the best possible way. “He has a big chance to start and to play, but there is one more training session and we will take the decision.” Manchester City’s Rico Lewis is another right-back option for Tuchel ahead of the Czechia clash, but either Quansah or Alexander-Arnold is expected to get the nod. Tuchel will also make a decision on his central midfield pairing with Alex Scott ruled out due to an injury. England are aiming to make it three consecutive wins and keep their hopes of finishing top of Group C alive. They currently trail Spain by three points, meaning November’s meeting between the Three Lions and the world champions at the Metropolitano Stadium could have a major bearing on who finishes top.
