Juventus to open talks to sign Marseille’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Juventus to open talks to sign Marseille’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg Juventus are set to open talks to sign Olympique de Marseille midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (31), as per a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport. Contrary to expectations – and the desire of the club – Hojbjerg remained at Marseille over the summer. The club, amid financial difficulties, had hoped to sell the Dane to Newcastle United, however, the player rejected the move, much to the frustation of the ownership, who made the decision to strip him of the captain’s armband. Despite that, Hojbjerg retains the strong support of Bruno Genesio and even without the armband, he continues to feature regularly for OM. However, there is the possibility that he does leave the club in the winter transfer window. La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that preliminary talks with the Denmark international’s entourage have taken place and further talks are planned soon. A move for the midfielder this winter is on the cards. Hojbjerg himself is open to a move away from Les Phocéens, so long as he would be joining an exciting project at a big European club.
